My Chemical Romance Cake

Buzz Lightyear Cake

This Buzz Lightyear cake has a lot of internal structure :o) He has a skeleton made out of PCV pipes. You can purchase one of these body structures from Cake Study. This project looks harder than it actually was. His arms and legs are PCV pipes covered in white modeling chocolate. His head is a Styrofoam shaped egg covered in fondant. For his face, I built up the "bone structure" with fondant then I covered the eye sockets, brow, and chin with the flesh colored fondant. His torso is cake I used 2 six inch rounds, 2 seven inch rounds, and one 9 inch round then slightly carved to give him his shape. His torso is covered in ganache and then with fondant. His boots and other embellishments are cuts out of fondant. Buzz stood over 2 feet tall and was the hit of the party!! Happy Birthday Montrece!

Toy Story Cupcakes

These Toy Story cupcakes were made to accompany the Buzz Lightyear cake pictured above. The characters were fairly easy to make, I used a bunch of different sized round cutters. Some of the finer details (pupils, eyebrows, eyes and mouths ) were drawn on with an edible pen. All of the characters are cut out of fondant. So cute!!

Peter Pan and Tink Cake

This Peter Pan and Tink cake was made for twins a boy and a girl. The image was made from a frozen buttercream transfer. The cake is yellow cake with buttercream icing. Yummmy!!

Make Up Box Cake

This makeup case cake was a definite hit. It was fun to watch all the girls pretending to put on make up. One of the girls had me laughing saying that she needed to put on some eye shadow but could not because she ate her brush. All of the make up pieces were made from fondant. The tall sides and lid were made from gumpaste and an impression mat (they needed several days to dry). Also, to be on the safe side I made an extra lid which worked out great because my first one cracked :o(  The cake is yellow cake covered in ganache and then with the pink sides.

A Piano Cake for Buddy!!

Happy Birthday Buddy! This piano cake was a bit of a challenge. Although once I found a template that I liked it all came together rather quickly. I cut my cake board to the exact size of the template. Then, I glued (with a really strong glue) the legs on a day or so ahead of time. I did have an issue with the cake not baking as large as I thought it would (misjudgement on my part), but it actually worked to my advantage. I cut the cake to the exact size of the template as well. Then I cut about an 1"-1 1/2" (depending how much room you need for your keys)  strip from the front of both layers of the piano. Keep these pieces in tact and use one or both of the strips (depending on how high you want your keys to sit) for the front ledge of the piano. I also hammered wooden dowels (sharpened on both ends) through the cake boards and centers of the legs before I laid the cakes on the top cake board. I covered everything in white chocolate ganache to make it very sturdy, and then with fondant. So, the space around the cake I was worried about did not matter in the end. The sheet music is rice paper, and the flowers and keys are made of fondant. :o)

A Cake for a Princess

Another pink castle cake, but for a different Maddie :o) This is one of my favorites. My nieces actually removed the ice cream cones from the towers and filled them with ice cream (earlier post). It is a really  fun cake to look at. For more details on creating this look scroll down. :o) Enjoy!

A Penguin Party Cake

This penguin cake was created for a mom that had quite an attachment to a penguin stuffed animal while she was pregnant. The stuffed animal went everywhere she did :o) The igloo is a 6" round topped with half of the Wilton ball pan and covered in white fondant. The entrance of the igloo is made from 2 rice krispie treats shaped together and then covered in fondant. The frozen pond is made of candy melts poured on the cake (before I added the "snow") and smoothed out. The penguin pals were created on lollipop sticks, so that I could later secure them onto the cake :o)
