Today was my first project as a Wilton Instructor :o) We had to demo decorated cookies that went with the theme of the 2012 Wilton Yearbook. It was a lot of fun, although, a little hard to talk and decorate at the same time :o)
These cupcakes were made for some girls graduating from the Southeastern Institute. Congratulations!!! The cupcakes were yellow cake with buttercream icing. The little diplomas are made from fondant.
I made a whole bunch of these guys (centipedes, spiders, and all sorts of creepy bugs) for my Halloween projects, but forgot to take pictures. They are real simple and fun. For the legs and body, I drew a pattern, covered it with waxed paper, and then used candy melts/melted chocolate to trace over the pattern. While the melts are still wet add your M&Ms (or whatever chocolate covered candies you have) starting from the back and slightly leaning each additional piece toward the back. Let set up, and very carefully remove from the waxed paper to add to your cakes, cupcakes, and ect. :o)
These bugs are edible as well. Their bodies are whole pitted dates, their wings are caramel squares rolled out thin, cut out in a wide horseshoe shape, and their heads are M&Ms. I added antennas, but I just could not get them quite right, so I left them off :o).
I really love to bake everything. My friend Randy had been bugging me and bugging me for a pecan pie to eat with his lunch ( I wait tables). Apparently, the restaurant I work for had pecan pie as a dessert ages ago, and no longer sells it. Well, surprise surprise Randy!! Here is your pie :o).
The plain lemon pound cake has finally arrived!! My friend Stephon had only one request all summer long....a plain lemon pound cake with no icing, no decorations, no powdered sugar, no anything. It sure looks bare, but it is a delicious cake. In fact, he will have it one day before fall begins (he he he).
